The Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a talk on “The Corporate Transparency Act,” September 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center, Blanco Room. A Lunch & Learn event, the talk is an exclusive opportunity for Chamber members to gain valuable insights.
Led by Kathleen A. Mendoza, Attorney at The Law Office of Kathleen A. Mendoza, PLLC, the talk will cover key issues: What is it? Does it apply to my business? When is my deadline? How do I comply?” The critical discussion will delve into the new Corporate Transparency Act, CTA, mandated by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FINCEN, with which many businesses will need to comply by January 1, if not sooner.
Attendees will learn about the implications of the act including which business entities are exempt, who qualifies as a “Beneficial Owner,” and what specific information must be reported. With potential civil and criminal penalties at stake, understanding and complying with the CTA is crucial for all business owners. She will also share the reporting resources that are available.
Kathleen Mendoza brings more than seventeen years of legal experience to the talk. Her practice focuses on small business, real estate, and estate planning transactions. She has been serving the Wimberley community since establishing her practice in October 2021.
Kathleen earned her law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University. She is an active member of the Wimberley Chamber of Commerce and serves on the boards of the Barnabas Connection and Start-up Kids Club and Camp Community.
