The Knights of Columbus Council 9151 will host the twenty- first annual Hunters Night Out October 19 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wimberley. This year, HNO will again be held “Under the Big Tent” on St. Mary’s parking lot.
HNO ticket holders enjoy the company of friends and neighbors, good music, a delicious BBQ dinner, refreshing beverages and a chance to win one of 30 guns given away by Cabela’s gift cards. The event also features a live auction, card scrambles and bucket drawings. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
The Knights at Council 9151 have had many years of support for their fundraiser which has enabled them to grow their community contributions at the local level and beyond. At the 20th Anniversary event the Knights of Columbus donated $75,000 on stage to local charities. A total of $101,000 was awarded to charities and non-profit organizations as a direct result of HNO’s generous sponsors and patrons.
“Giving back to our community in a planned gifting program is of primary importance to our local Knights Council,” said Mark Jones, an HNO Leadership Team member. “We also like to step up and help with emergency donations for natural disasters. In early Spring when a fire decimated one of our local businesses, the Knights were there within a few hours with checkbook in hand. Two years ago, we made donations to Wimberley Fire and Rescue during the Hermosa Fire.”
The Knights encourage early ticket purchases to guarantee tickets. Pre-event ticket prices are $45 each or $160 for four. If available, tickets at the door will be $60 each. Sponsorships range from $750 to $1,200 or more and donations always help ensure a successful event. Tickets are available from any St. Mary Knight of Columbus or can be purchased online. “We want to thank our sponsors and participants who annually help us raise money at Hunters Night Out,” said Bill Kammerer, another HNO Leadership Team member. “Those funds are given back to local non-profit organizations, religious organizations, student scholarships and Knights of Columbus projects. Without the support of our contributors we could not have had the success we’ve enjoyed for the past 20 years.”
