Wimberley Arts launches its first Art Crawl September 5 in which participating local galleries and businesses stay open late for art lovers to enjoy Wimberley’s diverse gallery scene. The first Thursday of the month event is the latest program initiative from WimberleyArts. org.
The September 5 kickoff begins at 5 p.m. and includes special art events, food and entertainment. Participating galleries for the kickoff are Wildflower Art Gallery, Art on 12, Pitzer’s Fine Art Gallery, Rodney Bursiel Gallery, Hill Country Collectables, 220 Fine Art Gallery, Wimberley Valley Art League Gallery, projectART’s ARTSPACE Gallery and Silo Gallery & Glass Studio. Local businesses Casa Turquesa, My Happy Place, Shelter, Ceremony, and Mission Day Spa will be open late in support of Art Crawl.
“After months of planning we’re so excited to be launching Art Crawl in September,” said Art Crawl committee chair Nancy Elliott. “Each participating venue will be marked with the distinctive Art Crawl flag, and we’ll have transport to help folks get around. Visitors can expect different things at each gallery or business, including guest artists, special displays, demonstrations, and refreshments. We’ll be handing out cards for people to check off each place they visit, and those who go to more than five will be entered into a drawing to win some terrific prizes.”
After the kick off on September 5, future months will each have a theme. The Art Crawl theme on October 3, for example, is Plein Aire Everywhere. The theme for the November 7 crawl is Literary Night, and on December 5, Signature Cocktails and Live Music is the theme.
