The Sustainability Workshop continues Wednesday evenings, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 RR12. Learn from experts about fast fashion and sustainable wardrobe upgrading with the use of organic, homemade clothing dye, sustainable practices in the workplace, Engaged Ecology Initiatives, sustainable art creation, and how to make green spaces more habitable for avian species. Presented by the Wimberley Parks and Recreation Department, the workshop is free but registration is required at wimberleyparksandrec. com. Inquiries at 512 660-9111.

Open auditions for the holiday play, “Miracle on 34th Street” will be held at the Wimberley Players, 450 Old Kyle Road, at 7 p.m. For more information, go to wimberleyplayers. org.

The dedication of two new “living” sculptural gates by artist and sculptor Heather Carter, will begin at the end of Blue Hole Lane, the road right before the main park entrance, at 9:30 a.m. Visitors will walk to Gate 1 for the dedication and then walk to Gate 2 for a short workshop for students and interested members of the public. Look for sandwich boards showing the way.

The Wimberley Square repaving project begins today ushering in very limited parking in the streets around the downtown area for the week ahead. RR12 will remain open during the repaving project. The best options for parking will be the Wimberley Community Center and the Oak Park parking lot.

Purple Hays Together invites the public to an educational meeting about “Project 2025” at the Wimberley Village Library on Monday, August 26, from 6:00- to 7:30 p.m. Project 2025 is a 900-page policy document that proposes to elect a president who would implement the majority of proposals without going through the democratic process of being proposed, evaluated, passed by both houses of Congress and signed into law.

With a budget of $22 million, the Heritage Foundation think tank is spearheading it with more than 100 organizations in support. Purple Hays Together is a nonpartisan organization.

The Adult Craft LAB is a year-round tinker and craft program for adults 18 and up organized by the Wimberley Valley Library. Classes are held via Zoom on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.

Farmers and Artisan market, a community-based endeavor that specializes in fresh foods from growers and welcomes art, craft and other vendors is held Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Cowboy Church, 120 Green Acres Drive.

Overeaters Anonymous, Wimberley Chapter, meets 7 p.m., second and fourth Mondays at the Wimberley Presbyterian Church, 956 RR2325. For information, call or text Aida at (512) 787-8313.

MONTHLY EVENTS

Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group, is held the first Thursday each month in the Presbyterian Church Library, 956 FM 2325 from 12:45 to 2 p.m. Designed for caregivers to meet with others who are caring for a loved one with dementia. The Jacob’s Well Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution meets in Wimberley every second Monday to pursue historic preservation, patriotism and education in service to the community. For information, email [email protected].

The Wimberley Valley Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Wimberley Presbyterian Church at 956 RR2325.
