School lunches available for Wimberley ISD students

Applications are now open for Wimberley Independent School District families to apply for their student(s) to receive free or reduced- price meals at WISD during the 2024--25 school year.

Any student that qualifies for meals will automatically be able to receive free breakfast again this year. If a family’s household income is within the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines, students may qualify for no cost or reduced-price meals.

A student may also qualify for certain nutrition programs if they or their household meets the following criteria: • Any person in the household participates in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or food stamps) or receives Temporary Assistance for Need Families (TANF or welfare) benefits • The student is a foster child under the legal responsibility of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) or a court

• The student is enrolled in Head Start, is homeless, a runaway, or is a member of a migrant family The Texas Department of Agriculture also offers an income-based tool to determine if the household qualifies for meals before they submit an application. That tool is available at https://squaremeals. org/Public-Resources/ School-Nutrition-Eligibility For those households that qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on income, an adult in the household must fill out the free and reduced-price meal application. The quickest way to process the application is by completing the online version available once you log in to your Linq Connect student meal account online at https:// linqconnect.com/main Paper copies are also available at the WISD Administration building and all four campuses. In addition, applicants can print copies from the website in both English and Spanish at https:// www.wimberleyisd. net/departments1/ child-nutrition/freereduced- price-meal-applications Applications may be submitted anytime during the school year. If you have any questions about the free or reduced-price program, please contact WISD Child Nutrition Director Heather Baldwin at 512-847-2414 ext. 7208 or [email protected].
