Calling all single moms

While the experience of single parenting can generate memorable wry humor like the quote on the right, solo moms and dads report that they often feel separated from their community. Juggling parenting and work while covering the cost of housing, food, transportation and healthcare on a single income can be a lonely existence without a trusted network of people who know exactly what it’s like. Support groups share information, perspective and often, the only place to land those single parent moments, funny or otherwise.

Wimberley single mothers who would like to connect with other moms raising children on their own are invited to attend a meeting at the Square Inn Venue, July 29 at 3 p.m. The aim of the Single Mother Support meeting is to provide a safe place for women to connect for support, encouragement and friendship, and to learn practical tips and resources available to them.

Organized by Square Inn innkeeper Marci Bishop, the support group is a labor of love. “I was a single mother for 17 years with six kids. While I don’t have all the answers, I understand the challenges involved.”

The meeting will take place in the Square Inn’s new meeting room. The Square Inn Venue is located on the Wimberley Square at 110 Oak Drive. Childcare for the meeting may be provided upon request, if known in advance. To RSVP, email Marci Bishop, inkeeper@ wimberleysquareinn. com.
