Felix T. Jack celebrates new location

The Felix T. Jack Haberdashery celebrated its relocation last Saturday with an open house at 612 FM 2325. The 2,200 square foot, two-story building houses the men’s clothing store, owned and operated by Heath Tolleson, and the architectural office of Keen Architectural Design and Real Estate Services. Kristin McDermott, Certified Professional Building Designer and lead designer of Keen Architectural Design, designed the building.

The Haberdashery opened in November 2021 to carry artisan- made clothing and heritage goods made responsibly in the USA. Known as “slow fashion,” the approach considers the processes and resources required to make outstanding clothing. Proponents focus on timeless, high-quality designs over trendy pieces.

As a low-impact site planner, building designer and builder who focuses on community and sustainability, Mc-Dermott designed the new location with natural materials in a style likened to “Organic Industrial.” The divided space has ceilings soaring in some places to 24 feet, lofts, showroom spaces, a generous sales counter, restrooms and a comfortable fitting room. In the office area, there is a kitchen and cozy seating area.

Included within is a full service art gallery with sculptures, photography, paintings and other artwork that enhance the welcoming interior.

McDermott and Tolleson intentionally included areas for customers and friends to relax and gather.

“We wanted to create a space where people would feel welcome and wanted,” said McDermott. “It’s a creative hub,” she continued, “where we’re happy to put on a pot of coffee and encourage others to bring their computer and hang out.”
