Pedestrian Wayfinding Signage
The city of Wimberley is working on adding wayfinding signage for pedestri-ans around the Wimberley Square.
Councilmember Rebecca Minnick compared the proposed signage to what shoppers may find directing visitors in a mall. The proposed locations for the signs are by the Cypress Creek Bridge, at Cedar Chest and Ceremony as well as a location at the future restroom and visitor’s kiosk that is being constructed on Oak Drive. There is also discussion of having a digital map that could be accessed through a QR code.
ARP funding
The council approved a budget amendment for $44,667.99 of funding from the American Rescue Plan. The ARP, often referred to as a COVID-19 stimulus package, was approved by the federal government last year and included multiple items that local governments could be reimbursed for. The council approved the purchase of a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) that allows sewer system operators to control the system operations with automation and real-time data. The purchase was for more than $30,000. The council also approved funding to help pay for generators for Wimberley Valley Radio to assist with emergency operations to enhance the city’s ability to communicate in times of a disaster. City Administrator Mike Boese stated that both uses should “squarely fall under” the requirements of the American Rescue Plan funding
