This year, rain or shine the Social will happen and just move indoors to the Community Center if it rains. To start the festivities, KWVH 94.3 Radio is doing a live broadcast from 11-1pm.

“This is WIC’s longest running fundraiser (started in 1990) and our 30th year to have the Pie Social,” said John Poe, president of WIC. “Covid shut us down for the last 2 years but we are making up for the hiatus with a fabulous event coming up! We will have a pie baking contest that anyone can enter as well as a pie-eating contest, a live auction of the winning pies and an antique quilt. Raffle drawings will be held throughout the event for additional antique quilts and other items.”

Mini Equine 2 U will be onsite with a therapy horse and donkey as well as Freedom Canines with 2 of their support dogs. A couple of lawn games will be happening for the kiddos or for a little competition with their parents.

Suzanne Gordon, Vice President of WIC, said that it takes 100-120 pies each year for the event. “We are looking for cooks interested in submitting their homemade pies for judging to bring them to the Community Center between 8:30 & 9:30 on the day of the event. Pie submission forms can be found at Wimberley Village Library, the Wimberley Visitors Center, the Community Center or downloaded from our website at www.WimWic.org . We would be happy for anyone to just donate a pie we can serve!”

The pies compete in categories of nut, fruit, cream, specialty and Kids (12 & under) pies. There will be a first, second and third place winner in each category, plus a Grand Prize winner. The first place and Grand Prize winners will be auctioned at 1pm.

The money raised during this event will go to the Wimberley Valley Museum for ongoing renovation and preservation of both the Winters-Wimberley and the Wimberley-Hughes homes, which are on the National Register of Historic Places. WIC also has an extensive collection of historic photos and archives, some of which will be on display in the museum during the Pie Social.

Raffle tickets for the additional quilts and other items can be purchased online at www.WimWic.org or at the WIC’s information table at Wimberley Ace Hardware on Saturday, April 2nd from 11-2pm and Saturday, April 9th from 11-2 pm. Tickets will also be sold at the Pie Social. Winners will be announced throughout the day. Contact Debra Billups 512-965-2662 with any questions.
