The Wimberley View accepts Letters of Support for local candidates in the upcoming May election through April 28 for the May 2 issue of the Wimberley View. Letters are limited to 300 words. Letters can support more than one candidate but only one letter per person will be published. Letters of Support are intended to be a free avenue for readers to support candidates. Disparaging letters will not be run. Early voting began April 22.

Letter No. 1

It is with great pleasure that I am endorsing Robert (Bob) Clark from Wimberley Council, Place 4. I have known the Clarks as a neighbor and friend. He has been a very active volunteer in our community, serving on the Wimberley Planning & Zoning Commission, as an associate member of St. Vincent de Paul Society and assisting in events sponsored by the Wimberley Community Civic Club. He has a working knowledge of structure and policies of the Wimberley City Council through working on the P & Z Commission.

As a successful small business owner, his ability to work with others, his problem solving experience and strong work ethic will be a valuable asset to the Wimberley City Council. Wimberley needs city council members who will be fair and do what is best for our community. I encourage you to vote for Robert (Bob) Clark as the next member of the Wimberley City Council, Place 4.

– Tondy Frady Letter No. 2

Please join me in voting for Robert “Bob” Clark for Wimberley City Council Place 4. Bob is currently serving our city as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission. He understands the importance of collaboration and consensus building to get things done for our community. Bob is a retired small business owner and volunteers through his church. Water is the number one issue for our valley as development continues to drain this resource.

Bob will work diligently to bring level headed solutions to our challenges. To learn more about him, visit his facebook page @Robert Clark for Wimberley City Council. Early voting starts Monday, April 22 and election day is May 4. Vote Clark! — Christine Byrne, former Wimberley City Council member, Place 3. Letter No. 3

As you may know Wimberley City Council has not had an elected official since 2019. That was the City’s last election. Which means all the seated Wimberley City Council have been given their position by simply signing up or being appointed. On May 4th we will have our first Wimberley Election in five years.

I am personally endorsing Jim Jones, a long time Wimberley resident who has recently retired as a career army officer.

Jim Jones is not part of the existing Wimberley Council nor is he one of the Council’s appointees. Instead, Jim is a strong and independent individual who will speak up for the citizens and the merchants. Jim Jones is interested in managing Wimberley’s growth in a way that is good for the entire community, not just a select group. Jim also wants to be sure we have our water managed and available to residents. I hope that electing a new voice will bring some attention to the needs of Wimberley citizens.

Currently, it appears Wimberley has turned into a mini version of Austin’s 6th Street. It appears new venues open with a complete disregard for parking and installing excessive lighting in a Dark Sky Community. Residents can no longer find a parking place to shop in our town. The city has plans to pave the square while potholes abound on city streets. It seems the city hasn’t paved a road in years even though they budget for roads annually. Sadly, a major concern is that pedestrian and vehicular traffic all share the same roadways. Driving down Old Kyle Rd is an accident waiting to happen.

I’m voting for Jim Jones to improve Wimberley! Early voting started Monday April 22 and goes through Tuesday April 30. Election Day is Saturday May 4. In my mind there is only one vote for Wimberley, Jim Jones.
