Scholarships of $5000 or more are available for 2022 high school seniors, and the application deadline has been extended to April 15th, 2022. Grads who dream of becoming visual or graphic artists, photographers, filmmakers, writers, journalists, performers, musicians, chefs, wine or beer makers, builders, crafters or makers (and a host of related careers) with plans for continued education at a university, college, after high school trade or technical school are strongly encouraged to apply immediately.
Last year, the Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance (WVACA) launched the Robert Moreman Memorial Scholarship (RMMS) to support young people in pursuing higher education in any of the organization’s four pillars – visual, literary, performing and culinary arts – or, in tribute to Robert Moreman’s career path, the building trades. These scholarships are available to 2022 graduating seniors from Wimberley High School (WHS) and Katherine Anne Porter School (KAPS) in Wimberley, Texas.
Students applying for this scholarship need to show their passion and ability in their chosen field and how their commitment to continuing education will support their success. While academic performance (grades) will be considered during the selection process, this will not be the primary criterion when selecting the scholarship recipients. The scholarship committee is most interested in references from teachers, trainers and mentors familiar with the applicant’s talents and commitment. Finalists will be invited to meet the committee in person.
