Knights honor emergency responders

The St. Mary’s Catholic Church 4th Degree Knights of Columbus hosted an Emergency Responder Appreciation Lunch last week.

The St. Mary’s Catholic Church 4th Degree Knights of Columbus hosted an Emergency Responder Appreciation Lunch last week.

The group put together the lunch program to thank all emergency responders in the Wimberley Valley.

“Part of the 4th Degree is saluting patriotism,” Dan Pitcher, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly member, said. “Our goal is to support our local first responders and cater a lunch for them at no charge so we can thank them for all of their service to the community… They provide safety, security in the community and are there to protect us. We want them to know that people care.”

Invited to the luncheon were the Hays County Sheriff’s Department, Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, Wimberley Fire & Rescue, Wimberley EMS, Hays County CERT, Fire Marshals, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 Annex Staff, Barnabas Connection and emergency responders from the city of Wimberley and Woodcreek.

“This is amazing,” Hays County Constable Don Montague said. “We really appreciate it. I talked to each member of the Knights this morning and thanked them again. It really does mean a lot to us to have this kind of support.”
