The Wimberley Institute of Cultures will unveil a new mural by artist Theresa Vincent on March 22, from 4 to 7 p.m., in an event that also introduces the museum’s new outdoor landscaping and lighting. The mural is painted on the historic shed next to the museum and depicts Wimberley through the years. One side is created to encourage the taking of self portraits.
The artist will be on hand to explain her vision for the project and the elements she chose for the design.
WIC has recently completed the first phase of site upgrades that include lighting for the mural, and will include pathways and lighting between the Visitor’s Center and the museum, as well as benches for enjoying wildflowers cultivated by the Hays County Master Naturalists.
The City of Wimberley awarded the museum a generous grant from the city’s Hotel Occupancy Tax Fund for the project. WimberleyArts. org spearheaded the selection of the artist and mural’s facilitation. WIC is located at 14068 Ranch Road 12.
