Spring Break for the Wimberley baseball team was a rough one as the Texans fell in a doubleheader sweep to the Cornerstone Christian Warriors losing both Game 1 at 5-0 and Game 2 at 13-3.

The loss drops Wimberley’s record to 4-6 overall.

After a scoreless first inning by both teams, Cornerstone got on the board first following a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors extended the lead in the third inning as two RBI doubles added two more runs with Cornerstone on top at 3-0.

Cornerstone added another run in the fourth inning as the Warriors scored on a passed ball to make it 4-0.

The Warriors added another run in the sixth inning as the Warriors took Game 1 at 5-0.

For the Texans, Wimberley mustered only four hits and left eight runners on base.

In Game 2, the Texans got on the board to take their first lead of the game as Ethan Lancaster hit Hagen Donley on an in-field single to take a 1-0 lead.

The lead didn’t last long as the Warriors tied the game up in the bottom of the 1st inning on a RBI ground-ball single to make it 1-1.

Cornerstone then took the lead in the 2nd inning as the Warriors scored three times to make it 4-1.

The Warriors then extended the lead further by scoring two more runs to make the score 6-1.

Kyler Lai broke the scoring drought in the top of the fourth inning for the Texans as he scored on a passed ball to cut the lead down to 6-2.

However, Cornerstone extended the lead once more by adding three more runs to make it a 9-2 game.

Lancaster stole home to cut the lead down to 9-3 but Cornerstone once again added three more runs to make it 12- 3.

The Warriors scored an extra run in the sixth inning to officially runrule the Texans as Cornerstone won the second game at 13-3.

Wimberley looks to get back on track this week with a pair of home games for the week as they host Llano on Tuesday and Smithville on Friday at Texan Ballpark with both games starting at 7 p.m.
