Bill Tomlinson of Woodcreek shot a hole in one at the Bandit Golf Club in New Braunfels last week on the 11th hole during a round with a group of Wimberley Men’s Golf Association players. The other golfers in his foursome were John Odell, Bucko Schulze and Mike Crusham. Another WMGA foursome with a tee time following his, were on hand for the event.
“Bill was hitting a red golf ball which is really hard to track,” said Mike Crusham, one of the men in his foursome. “When he hit it, we all thought it was a great shot but weren’t sure exactly where it landed. We got close to the green and saw no ball anywhere.”
“On the remote chance of a possible hole in one,” Crusham continued, “I brought my phone and fortunately got a shot of it where it landed in the cup.”
Tomlinson described the excitement that followed. “Everyone said ‘Wow’ and jumped up and down, hugged my neck and patted me on the back.” Later, the other seven Wimberley golfers joined him in a beer to celebrate.”
“It is my first hole in one ever, and I’ve been playing golf since college at A&M,” said Tomlinson, “which is a pretty long time.”
Tomlinson also plays golf with the Woodcreek Men’s Golf Association at the Double J course there He anticipates buying a few more beers to celebrate with them when they meet to play next week on Wednesday.
