Last week, Wimberley toasted its recent cultural accomplishments with the “Three Cheers to Wimberley celebration” at the Oak Park Welcome Center. In late 2023 the Texas Commission on the Arts granted the expansion of the Wimberley Cultural District from Jacob’s Well Road on the north side of the city to FM32 on the south, and to the Emily Ann Theatre on the west side to Winter’s Mill Parkway on the east.
Mayors Gina Fulkerson of Wimberley and Jeff Rascoe of the City of Woodcreek joined Greg Webb, Wimberley Valley Dark Sky Committee Chair, in honoring the cities’ designation as the “International Dark Sky Place of 2023” by the International Dark Sky Association. Mayor Fulkerson proclaimed March 2024 as Wimberley Valley Cultural District Month.
Members of WimberleyArts. org, including founding member Cathy Moreman, joined in the festivities to commemorate their success in visioning and sustaining a community where arts and culture flourish. Artist Wade Woehrmann unveiled his winning design for a silo mural that incorporates the valley’s cultural achievements and designations.
