The new year is marching on and so is the Wimberley Lions Club as Wimberley Market Day begins a new season on Saturday, March 2 at Lions Field. Hundreds of vendors will be back with a variety of unique “finds” and hand-crafted items. Lions and community volunteers will be serving up good eats, drinks, and a special item, solar glasses for the highly anticipated solar eclipse event next month.
The total eclipse will be on Monday, April 8. The Wimberley Lions Club purchased hundreds of custom designed ISO certified solar eclipse glasses, designed by Lion Amy Cox. The design includes helpful information such as start time, peak time, magnitude, and longitude and latitude of Wimberley. The glasses will be sold at both March and April market days for $5.00 per pair, available at all concession stands and the information booths. Funds from the sale of the solar glasses will enable the Wimberley Lions Club to continue in their charitable endeavors with their vision programs including SPOT Vision screening and the Lions Eye Bank, and towards a new program in which they will be able to purchase glasses for those in need.
As always, live music starts at 11:00 a.m. until about 1:00 p.m. The Jesse Stratton Band headlines the Pavilion stage. Alias Newman plays the Shady Grove stage. And, Monte Good plays the Hilltop stage.
Wimberley Market Day is held on the first Saturday of each month, rain or shine. March shopping hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lions Field is located off FM 2325, about a mile from the Wimberley Square. The $5.00 donation accepted at the Lions Club’s parking lots helps to fund the various grants and scholarships distributed by the Wimberley Lions Club.
