WVACA changes name to WimberleyArts.org

The board of the Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance has voted to discontinue referring to the organization as WVACA in favor of its new name, WimberleyArts.org.

The board of the Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance has voted to discontinue referring to the organization as WVACA in favor of its new name, WimberleyArts.org.

“We’ve received a lot of feedback over time that our full name is quite a mouthful to navigate, especially for newcomers to our mission, and the acronym WVACA is hard to say and doesn’t give people any idea what we’re about,” said Deirdre Taylor, the organization’s Director of Communication. “Our legal name will continue to be Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance,” according to President Carl Rabenaldt, “but with our re-brand, which includes a new logo to be unveiled soon, we are, for all intents and purposes, WimberleyArts. org.”

The newly branded WimberleyArts.org supports art and culture of all kinds in the Wimberley Valley, providing platforms for the visual, performing, literary and culinary arts. They manage the Wimberley Cultural District, a designation awarded by the Texas Commission on the Arts, which recognizes and promotes Wimberley as an arts tourism destination. The non-profit presents the popular “Stars Over Wimberley Benefit Concert Series,” in collaboration with The Wimberley Players, that benefits its Robert Moreman Memorial Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded to graduates of Wimberley High School and the Katherine Anne Porter School who plan to pursue higher education for careers in the arts or the building trades.

WimberleyArts. org is the organization behind the “Bootiful Wimberley” boot sculptures found throughout the town. More than fifty boots, sponsored by local businesses and embellished by local artists, lead visitors and locals alike to many of the area’s attractions. In addition to that, the group coordinates other public art projects, such as murals, sculptures and other initiatives, to beautify Wimberley. The vibrant, hardworking group also produces the “Wimberley StoryFest” events that celebrate “Story in all of its forms,” and recently launched “WimberleyGalleryTr ail. com.”

In addition to the Texas Cultural District designation, the group has also been successful, in collaboration with the City of Wimberley, in achieving Texas Film Friendly and Texas Music Friendly designations for our area. For more information, visit WimberleyArts. org.
