The Lady Texans played in a district matchup taking on the Bandera Bulldogs (1615) who currently hold the last place spot in the district Tuesday night. They were able to pull away early, easily winning 61-35 as they defended their home court in Wimberley.
The first quarter saw the Texans pull away early as they only gave up 4 points in the first 8 minutes of play and were able to go up by double digits with a 14-4 lead.
In the second quarter, the Bulldogs didn’t let Wimberley pull further away as they both traded baskets and played an even quarter with a halftime score of 25-15.
In the third quarter, the Texans started to pile on the offense as they worked their lead up to 15 and then didn’t look back, going into the fourth quarter up by fifteen points at 42-27.
In the fourth, the Texans continued their high offensive play with their biggest quarter of the game, scoring 19 points and leaving the Bulldogs in the rear view mirror with a final score of 61-35.
“After not being able to pull away in the second quarter we reset at halftime and talked about the intensity we had to come out with and we did,” said Head Coach Caleb Hall. “We had a great second half and I was really happy. We always try to put up 15 points in a quarter as our goal and we did that in the third and fourth quarter. It was good to see us finish that game strong and regain some momentum.”
On Friday, the Lady Texans lost 52-37 on the road against the Boerne Greyhounds (25-4). The Greyhounds currently hold the second place spot in the district with the Texans clinging to fourth place as the season comes to an end.
The Lady Texans will start a two game home stand this Tuesday at 6:30 in their last nondistrict game as they take on the Burnet Bulldogs (25-7) who currently hold first place in their district. The Texans have secured the fourth place spot in the district to ensure a chance at a playoff run but are looking to move up one spot as they have one last shot at the Navarro Panthers who are currently one game ahead of Wimberley in the district standings.
