An exhibition titled “Shape Shift” opens January 20 at ARTSPACE, 111 River Road, Suite 100, in Wimberley and continues through February 24. A reception to kick off the event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in the building formerly known as the Sugar Shack.
Five Texas artists were selected to participate in the exhibition for their unique styles and modes of interpreting the world around them. Drawing inspiration from the landscape and the figure, architecture, language and music, each artist developed a vocabulary of mark making, shapes, pattern and colors, to create their work. Artists whose work is included in the show are Brooke Burnside, Ryan Thayer Davis, Mariell Guzman, Annie Miller and Kathleen McShane.
Shape Shift is the third exhibition at ARTSPACE since it opened in 2023 by projectART.
“Our openings are filled with this unbelievable energy.” says Bregan Ford, Executive Director at projectART Wimberley. “They’re one of the most important things we do.”
The exhibition comes in the wake of recent initiatives and accomplishments of the non-profit organization which was founded in 2019.
“It’s been humbling to witness the growth of projectART over the last few years. Due to our unprecedented community support, ARTSPACE is no longer just a goal, it’s a reality,” said Heather Carter, founding member at projectART Wimberley. “We offer contemporary art exhibits and programming like projectMENTOR, art classes and practicum opportunities for students in the area. I couldn’t be more proud of our work and the one-ofa- kind experiences we’ve been able to provide. We are on fire!” To learn more go to projectartwimberley.org.
