As spring season and the cold weather spells come to an end, swim season in the Wimberley Valley is just around the corner.
Two of Wimberley’s iconic swimming holes require reservations, and both fill up quickly. Blue Hole Regional Park and Jacob’s Well Natural Area are now open for registration.
At Blue Hole, registration for swimming season has been open since March 1st with Blue Hole opening on the first weekend of May and closing with weekends-only in September. Two time slots are available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“This beautiful, iconic Texas swimming hole should be on the top of your vacation calendar this summer. The cool water offers a relief from the summer heat and there is something to do for the whole family,” said Richard Shaver, Director of Wimberley Parks and Recreation. “The 126-acre park includes four miles of hiking trails, picnic areas, sports fields, and more, but make sure to make those reservations for the swimming area when you can.”
Swim passes have been available for Wimberley residents since March 1 with non-residents having their swim passes available for April 1.
Blue Hole is also opening up registration at Blue Hole Nature Camp for children 6-12 years old.
To register for all Blue Hole events, visit the city of Wimberley website under the Parks and Rec page.
Over at Jacob’s Well, reservations are now open to swim at the iconic artesian spring over on the Jacob’s Well Natural Area website.
While the park remains free to visitors, in order to swim at Jacob’s Well, which is the headwaters of Cypress Creek, guests must make a reservation to swim in the spring on the JWNA website.
Weekends will fill up fast at both locations. Last year, Jacob’s Well booked every reservation out for more than a month in advance at one point during the swim season.
