The stories of heated political battles for seats on the Wimberley City Council are beginning to feel like tales in lore.
Since the city’s incorporation, there was at least one contested race in every election until 2020. All three possible races were contested many years. Now, for the third consecutive year, the city elections are canceled as there are no challengers in the race.
Mayor Gina Fulkerson and council members Teresa Shell and Jim Chiles will have a second term seated on the city’s governing body. All three terms are for two years.
The city council took formal action last week to cancel the May 7 election after the deadline to file passed on February 18.
