With November hitting Texan basketball has started up with the men’s basketball team holding a 1-1 record after a first game loss and what was going to look like back to back losses as the Texans made a huge comeback against The Cornerstone Christian Warriors to win after finding themselves down 43-57 going into the fourth quarter. “It was a tail of two halves, we started to force turnovers and some shots started falling, we are fortunate to get out of there with a win” Head Coach Mike Witten stated.
In the fourth the game changed dramatically as the Texans got stop after stop and #14 sophomore Paul Gumbert- Mendoza seemingly found himself hitting shot after shot to bring his team back into the game as the Texans went on a 15-0 run in the fourth to win 5857 after a last second layup by #14 to take the lead and win the game.
“We got two seniors Ethan and Jason, they’re the leaders… we got a bunch of young guys but we’re hanging in there and doing good” Gunbert-Mendoza stated.
The Texans next game (1-1) will be at Randolph (0-0) to take on the Ro-Hawks on Monday at 1PM.
The Lady Texans basketball season has started as well with the Lady Texans holding a current record of 1-4. As they are coming off a 65-67 loss from the O’Connor Panthers (8-5) This record could be vastly different as 3 of the 4 Lady Texan losses has been determined by 5 points or less The Lady Texans will travel to Lago Vista to take on the Vikings (0-4) for their next game on Monday at noon.
