Juniper Daniel was spent the last three years of her high school career working for this moment. He as a freshman, she was one of the leaders on the Wimberley High School Softball team. As she readies for her senior year, she had to get one very important thing out of the way – where she was going to continue her academic and athletic career.
“I picked St. Edward’s University because everyone there was super nice,” Daniel said. ‘I love being a part of the big city, but it is also separated because it is on a hilltop. It has amazing views. So you have your own little community and also the bigger city.”
Daniel was on the varsity softball team as a freshman when she was named to the Second-Team All-District team. She has since been named to that team a second time and was also First-Team All-District in 2022.
In her three years on the team, Daniel has played in 71 games with a .328 batting average and has accumulated five home runs, 59 runs batted in, 64 runs, and 18 stolen bases. The WHS softball team has advanced to the playoffs in two of Daniel’s three seasons. She is also a two-time Academic All-District honoree. With the upcoming softball season on hand for her senior year, there is still more to accomplish.
“My biggest goals are probably to be First-Team All-District and that we go further in the playoffs,” Daniel said. “I think we will make the first or second round for sure. Hopefully further. That would be fun for my senior year. Anything else that comes with be wonderful.”
In addition to her accomplishments on the diamond, Daniel is also a two-time regional qualifier in high jump for the Lady Texans track and field team. She has a personal best jump of 5’-4”.
Heading into play softball at St. Edwards, she said her goal is to be the starting centerfielder by the end of her freshman year.
“It is a big goal to reach,” Daniel said. “They have a wonderful centerfielder that was All-Conference as a freshman, so it’s already big shoes to fill. But, hopefully I can do that as well.”
