A dancer in a turkey costume outside Ozona Bank on RR12 means it’s time to make donations to the annual “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” campaign for the Crisis Bread Basket food pantry.
“We are so pleased and grateful that Ozona Bank partners with us each year during November to raise awareness about our mission,” said Joe Morris, Crisis Bread Basket board chairperson. “This is the 21st year they’ve supported us.” Ozona Bank will match up to $5,000 in donations.
Wimberley Crisis Bread Basket was established in 1986, relying entirely on the local community for donations of food, funds and staff. They provide weekly distributions of food to individuals and families in the area who are experiencing financially stressful circumstances.
During distribution hours, their pantry at 14092 RR12 distributes fresh meats, milk, eggs, cheese, as well as canned meats, vegetables, fruits, breakfast items and bread. Some fresh produce is available. The demand for their services is growing. They now serve more than 80 households per week.
Donations for the campaign will be accepted through November 30 in the Ozona Bank lobby or at its drive through lanes. For more information about donations, distribution hours or to volunteer, go to crisis breadbasket.org.
