Christi Moeller, assistant principal at Blue Hole Primary School, was awarded the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) Region 13 Assistant Principal of the Year for 2021-2022.

Moeller was nominated by BHP Principal Dara Richardson and selected by her Region 13 peers (Region 13 includes 55 Austin-area districts) based on the following criteria from TEPSA:

• Respected by students, colleagues, parents, and the community at-large.

• Show strong educational leadership by setting high expectations for school staff and students.

• Exhibit exceptional leadership in a particular school program and/ or be heavily involved in finding a solution to a challenge faced by the school.

• Able to demonstrate a school commitment to excellence through programs designed to meet the academic and social needs of all students.

• Able to demonstrate the school has firmly established community ties with parents and local business organizations.

Richardson said that Moeller is an amazing asset to WISD.

“She goes above and beyond to make this campus run smoothly. She is organized, dependable and excellent at communication with parents and staff,” Richardson said. “I am so thankful to have had her help me open BHP last year during COVID. She is great at handling difficult situations and tasks while keeping her cool.”

Among her many roles at BHP, Moeller handles discipline, Gifted & Talented testing, the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee, and textbooks.

“I felt very honored and humbled to be selected,” Moeller said. “I have been a Region 13 educator for 20 years, and to be chosen as a representative for our area is such an honor. To me, this award is a reflection of the support and professional excellence I’m surrounded by every day, from our district-level personnel to my wonderful principal and amazing campus staff. I certainly feel proud and blessed to be at BHP and a WISD educator.”

The 2021-22 school year is Moeller’s second as assistant principal at Blue Hole Primary. Prior to that she served WISD students as a principal, assistant principal and teacher at Scudder Primary School for 9 years and a teacher at Danforth Junior High School for two years.
