The 20th Annual Hunters Night Out is fast approaching, to be held Saturday Oct. 21.

The major fundraiser for the Wimberley Knights of Columbus (Council 9151), Hunters Night Out, previously raised and contributed back over $1,500,000 to local charitable, religious and scholarship organizations. The money raised in the Wimberley Valley stays mostly in the Wimberley area to help local organizations, but it is extended to any group in need.

At Hunters Night Out last year, Council 9151 awarded checks to 26 charities and worthy causes totaling almost $90,000. The Knights of Columbus are a global catholic fraternal service organization, with charity at the heart of their work and faith.

The 20th Annual Hunters Night Out takes place at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, located at 14711 RR 12 in Wimberley, under the “Big Tent.” The open-sided tent provides plenty of seating inside while allowing attendees to enjoy the evening under the Texas autumn sky.

Each Knight volunteers to do the work they are best suited for to assure everyone has an unparalleled evening. Work behind the scenes and prior to the event requires a significant team effort. Recruiting sponsors, advertising, gathering prizes, validating all ticket sales, programming, tent and furniture rentals, selecting the charity recipients and cooking are all done before any of the 1,300 guests arrive.

HNO doors open at 5:30 p.m. Children under 12 admitted free. You may buy tickets from a local Knight or online. The pre-event ticket price is $40 per ticket or 4 for $140. Tickets at the door, if available, are $55. Tickets include live music, a delicious Bar-B-Que Dinner, beverages, a chance to win a gun, a live auction and several bucket raffles. Live music by Wimberley’s own Ashton Naylor and food/bar service all begins at 5:30 pm. The festivities officially start at 6:30 p.m. with an official welcome, Father Chris’ Invocation and the Presentation of Colors by the U. S. Marine Corps.

HNO’s Gun Raffle gives away 30 guns, using Cabela’s gift cards. HNO also features a live auction, 25 Bucket Raffles and Card Scrambles. The Gun Raffle is only one part of the evening, and you don’t have to be present to win a gun.
