OPINION: Letter of Support for election

Dear City of Woodcreek neighbors, this November election will give you the opportunity to vote for a Mayor and two council members. I would like to highlight some of the differences between the two candidates running for Mayor regarding issues I think are important to you.

Dear City of Woodcreek neighbors, this November election will give you the opportunity to vote for a Mayor and two council members. I would like to highlight some of the differences between the two candidates running for Mayor regarding issues I think are important to you.

While on Council, Jeff Rasco voted against a development of 16 new houses on small lots in Brookmeadow, listening to the citizens and their opposition to this character changing development. Mr. Hambrick voted for it.

But Mayor Jeff Rasco didn’t stop there, he helped champion the creation of a one acre minimum lot size for Brookmeadow, based on that neighborhood’s wish to protect their unique charm.

As Mayor, Jeff Rasco supported the creation of an additional 65+ or disabled Homestead tax exemption. Mr. Hambrick came and spoke against it, saying it would bankrupt the city. Ultimately the city was able to pass this additional Homestead tax exemption and we are not, nor will we become bankrupt because of it.

When it comes to the Bond election to fix the roads in our city, Mayor Jeff Rasco was instrumental in educating citizens on the topic, including holding a Town Hall, while Mr. Hambrick spoke against the Bond to fix our roads.

When it comes to engagement, there is a clear difference. Mayor Jeff Rasco is involved and responds to citizens concerns with solutions and open communication. To date, Mr. Hambrick has never answered a single email from me.

While they have both been representatives of our fair city, the differences couldn’t be more stark. Only one has a long list of accomplishments that align with what the citizens want and need.

Please join me in re-electing Jeff Rasco for Mayor of Woodcreek.

Sincerely, Chrys Grummert
