Construction is underway for the expanded intersection of county-owned FM 3237 with RR 12, which is owned by the Texas Department of Transportation.
The project, which was proposed more than a year ago, had been delayed due to bidding issues. The Hays County Commissioners Court approved the bid for the project to Aaron Concrete Contractors, LLC in April.
According to the proposal, the construction will add separate turn lanes to the traffic signal for westbound traffic turning right from 3237 onto 12, for northbound traffic turning right from 12 onto 3237 and for southbound traffic turning left from 12 onto 3237. It will also add a sidewalk at the north corner (just to the right of The Wimberley View’s office).
“All of those things should help in terms of calming traffic,” Wimberley Mayor Pro Tem Rebecca Minnick said during a meeting regarding the project in April.
The intersection is part of a larger $16 million joint project between the county and TxDOT, which also involved the recently expanded intersection of 3237 with Winter’s Mill Parkway.
