The Katherine Anne Porter School got a makeover earlier this summer, with exterior painting transforming the appearance of the large concrete structure on FM 2325.

The project was possible in part thanks to the donation of primer and paint products by Behr Paint Company, Dripping Springs Home Depot and Sherwin Williams Paint. Painting was completed by Ball Brothers 1-800-Painting.

This new look for KAPS’ exterior reflects the vibrant learning community within. A creative community celebrating diversity and freedom in learning, KAPS’ mission is to educate and empower students with knowledge, skills, and practices to be successful and compassionate in school and life. The free, public, open-enrollment charter school serves students from Wimberley and surrounding areas — including Hays, Blanco, Comal, Travis and Williamson Counties.

Founded in 1998 as a high school grade 9–12, KAPS will expand to include grades 7–12, beginning in the fall of 2023.

In addition, under the direction of Superintendent Subhas Mathew, KAPS will be moving to a schedule alternating between five days and four days of attendance every other week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by after school clubs and activities from 4 to 6 pm.

The Katherine Anne Porter School is now enrolling grades 7–12 for the 2023–2024 school year. For more information, visit the website at kapschool. org or call (512) 6483180.
