WHS places in Lone Star Cup standings

This past school year, Wimberley High School tied for 22nd place out of more than 200 schools in the 2022– 2023 UIL 4A Lone Star Cup standings with 50 points.

This past school year, Wimberley High School tied for 22nd place out of more than 200 schools in the 2022– 2023 UIL 4A Lone Star Cup standings with 50 points.

The Lone Star Cup recognizes six Texas high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications, based on their overall team achievement in the following sanctioned UIL academic, athletic and fine arts championships: team tennis, cross country, marching band, volleyball, robotics BEST, football, Congress, spirit, swimming and diving, wrestling, mariachi, film, basketball, robotics FIRST, soccer, academics, one-act play, theatrical design, track and field, golf, tennis, softball and baseball.

The Texan football team highlighted the athletic year for Wimberley with its trip to the state competition, bringing in 14 of the 50 UIL points earned. Team tennis, volleyball and girls soccer all brought in six points; boys basketball and boys golf brought in four; and girls basketball, boys soccer and baseball brought in two. WHS also earned four points as the District Academic Champions.

This year’s UIL Class 4A Lone Star Cup went to Amarillo’s Randall High School with 137 points, followed by Boerne High School with 105 and Celina High School with 89. For a full list of results and standings, visit uiltexas.org/ lone-star-cup.
