Women With Standards, the popular musical duo of Chick Morgan and Nancy Williams, will be performing their first public concert in two years on March 6 at Vintage Oaks Farm in Driftwood.
“In February 2020 we had a fun CD release party and looked forward to sharing our music during the months ahead,” said Nancy Williams, a Texas artist who has spent most of her career at the piano. “Then COVID sent us all home and we had to set plans aside.”
“In the early spring of 2021, we were hopeful that opportunities would begin to safely open up and we began planning. That April my husband passed away unexpectedly and sadly we had to set our plans aside once more. Now here we are in early 2022, excited to share our music again.”
Nancy’s passion for music began in early childhood. Her gift of supporting and encouraging other musicians has led her to work with numerous artists to create music that she says “...entertains the heart and speaks to the soul.”
The duo’s love of performing from the Amer ican Songbook and the Contemporary Cabaret Songbook, as well as their originals, has earned them a strong following in the Hill Country. Audiences can’t get enough of the casual elegance they create onstage, enjoying the opportunity to dress up, sip champagne, and enjoy music that feels timeless.
Vocalist Chick Morgan spent her adult life in New York and New England, where she performed in the cabaret clubs of New York city for a decade. Her fusion of ‘New York class and Texas Sass’ has earned her the signature nickname of ‘The Cowgirl Diva.’
“We are always pleased to hear from fans how much they have missed our music, but we’ve missed it most,” says Chick. “Now we are looking forward to performing our fans’ favorites with our newest tunes, and to supporting the Civic Club’s fundraising efforts.”
