Local senior living community Alexis Pointe has teamed up with Keep Wimberley Beautiful, a group committed to protecting the environment, to introduce eco-friendly grass and wildflowers in their 1.67-acre detention pond.
This initiative is intended to help with flood control and soil erosion, as well as to support wildlife. An added bonus for the community is the low-to-zero maintenance. “We were happy to use our property to introduce a meadow of grasses and plants native to our particular area of Wimberley and the Edward’s Plateau,” said Alexis Pointe Community Relations Director Katy Starr. “It’s so lush and green. We have an incredible view, and we’re helping the environment!”
The community said it hopes to inspire other local businesses to reach out to Keep Wimberley Beautiful to find ways to support their efforts to preserve the abundant wildlife in the Hill Country.
