The annual Independence Day Parade closed down RR 12 last week, taking over the main thoroughfare for the morning of July 4.

The parade, hosted by the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce, saw hundreds of participants from all corners of the Wimberley Valley — from both Wimberley and Woodcreek. Both city governments put together floats of their own for the occasion, alongside Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and the local fire department, among others.

The patriotic spirit was palpable up and down the street as friends and families gathered to watch the parade. From vintage cars to Jeeps to a trolley, each “float” brought the American spirit — all in competition for the annual awards.

This year’s float winners were the following:

Funniest Vehicle: H-E-B Most Patriotic Vehicle: VFW Post 6441

Best Decorated Classic Car: Road Relics

Best Decorated Float: 1. Hays County Republican Women 2. Hill Country Cowboy Church 3. Wimberley Ace

Best Decorated Car: 1. Dripping Springs / Hays County Jeep Clubs 2. Fish Tales 3. Road Relics

Best Decorated Truck 1. Keep Wimberley Beautiful 2. Wimberley Zipline 3. Randall Morris Century 21 & Associates

The mission of the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce is to promote community and economic prosperity while fostering strong alliances. Chamber-sponsored events , such as the Independence Day parade, help to acquaint Chamber members with each other and showcase local and new businesses.

Weekly Chamber breakfasts are held every week at the Wimberley Cafe. For more information — or to learn how to become a member — visit wimberley. org.
