The Wimberley View placed in three statewide award categories at the Texas Press Association conference held in Round Rock earlier this month.
The View’s highest finish was second place in Sports Coverage, which was awarded for coverage throughout 2022 — a joint effort between Dalton Sweat, Colton McWilliams and Joe Smith. The paper also received fourth place in General Excellence and fourth place in News Writing.
“We are incredibly honored to have received all of these awards and are especially pleased to be recognized in the category of General Excellence,” said Madi Telschow, managing editor of The Wimberley View. “We have undergone a bit of a transition at the paper over the last several months, but we are proud to have proven ourselves a consistent source for reliable, local news.”
The View is the official newspaper of the cities of Wimberley and Woodcreek. This is a designation the state requires each city to place on a qualified newspaper to show where its legal notices will be run.
“We are honored to be the official newspaper of the cities of Wimberley and Woodcreek,” Telschow said. “From sports to news to everything in between, we consider it a great joy to be able to cover the communities of the Wimberley Valley. It’s nice to be recognized for that across the entire state of Texas.”
