County invites residents to Summer Health Fair

The Hays County Local Health Department is inviting residents to take control of their health.

The Hays County Local Health Department is inviting residents to take control of their health.

The Summer Health Fair on June 10 at Dripping Springs Ranch Park provides an opportunity to do just that.

“Our first health fair in Kyle last October was a great success,” said Local Health Department Manager Matthew Gonzales. “We hope to expand our reach this year by hosting a health fair in Dripping Springs.”

Gonzales also spoke about the importance of preventative health care. By prioritizing preventative care, individuals can identify health concerns early on and take steps to address them, leading to better health outcomes and improved quality of life.

Austin Baier, community outreach specialist for the HCLHD, said medical professionals will be at the fair to provide COVID-19 vaccinations, vision screenings, STI testing and more for people of all ages. Services will be available to the public at no cost. The event will also include family-friendly activities.

“Entertainment includes music and carnival games,” Baier said. “We want to make sure people have a good time while also taking care of their health.”

Vendors for the event include CommuniCare, Community Action and the Lions Club, among others. Baier said attendees will have the chance to win door prizes, including gift cards to local restaurants.

The Hays County Health Fair takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dripping Springs Ranch Park, located at 1042 Event Center Drive in Dripping Springs.
