A fifth season of outdoor movies are set to take place in the parking lot of the Wimberley Playhouse.
This year’s summer screenings will include The Goonies on Friday, June 9, and Everything Everywhere All At Once on Saturday, June 10. Each movie will begin at 8:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs.
While The Goonies offers a 1985 blast from the past and fun for the whole family, Everything Everywhere All at Once — a 2022 Academy Award winner — offers a sci-fi adventure for viewers both young and old.
The transformation of the Wimberley Playhouse parking lot into a walk-in movie theater became a tradition in 2020.
“Something magical happenswhenthe sun begins to set,” Trish Rigdon said of the event last year. “The always-present evening breezes cool things down for a great night under the Texas sky. This season we chose two films to appeal to families with younger children, and one that would make a great date night for adults. With our outdoor concession stand stocked with all the typical movie snacks, plus beer and wine, folks of all ages will have a great time!” Rigdon is the outgoing managing artistic director of The Wimberley Players.
Tickets required for entry: adults $10, children 10 and under are free. Tickets are available at wimberleyplayers. org or by calling (512) 8470575.
Concessions will be available on site.
The Wimberley Players is located at 450 Old Kyle Road in Wimberley, five blocks east of the Wimberley Square.
