The Wimberley Institute of Cultures annually awards Bill Johnson Memorial scholarships to WISD graduating seniors.

The 2023 scholarships went to three seniors: Lane Patek, Bryce Phillips and Thomas Watson. The scholarships were presented in front of the Buck Winn exhibit at the Wimberley Valley Museum in honor of Bill Johnson, one of the Wimberley community’s greatest supporters and a founding member of WIC. WIC members Eric Eskelund, Charles LeCompte, Martha Barchfeld, and John Poe attended the presentation on behalf of the organization.

WIC is a non-profit organization formed to recognize and preserve the archeological, historical, natural and cultural resources of the Wimberley Valley. WIC strives to preserve and foster appreciation of these resources through educational programs and social activities available to all members of our community. For more information about WIC, visit wimwic.org.

WIC is the host organization for the Wimberley Valley Museum, which is located in the historic Winters-Wimberley House off of RR 12. It is open every Friday and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. More information about the museum can also be found on the WIC website online.
