Wimberley Author Sara Thurman has published a new book, “27,000 Miles in Love.”
In her most recent work, Thurman shares the nitty gritty of her marriage with its difficulties of infertility, bankruptcy, disagreements and tough decisions that she and her husband faced during their 35 years of marriage — and their 20-year age difference.
The title is based on their daily walks that totaled more than 27,000 miles. The author writes that the time they spent walking — always holding hands — and talking helped develop rhythms of clear communication between them. She writes that when conflict arose about finances, parenting or anything else, they were able to come to an agreement and move forward in step with each other.
The book is divided into sections and at the end of each one, Thurman provides ways for spouses to improve their relationships for that season of their marriage. She also includes prayers for the reader and entries from her own prayer journals.
Thurman holds a PhD in educational leadership and is the founder of Acts 1:8 Blessings, a creative art ministry. She facilitates retreats and mentors, as well as teaches, writes and paints in the devotional process.
She is the host of a podcast called Small Beginnings with Sara. She is currently working on season two, which will embrace stories of how others have learned to navigate grief.
She is the author of six books, two of them bestsellers: “Small Beginnings,” a memoir of becoming an artist in her late 50s, and a children’s book “How Good Can God Be?” using her own childhood memories. To learn more, visit sarathurman.com.
