A spring lunch and salon concert was held late last month at the home of Marshall Jennings at O’Neill Ranch Estates in Hays County.

The lunch, held on Saturday, April 29, was prepared by Maria Padron and included BBQ sliders, homemade beans and potato salad, iced tea and peach cobbler. It was followed by a salon concert organized by Joey M. Martin, associate dean and director of choral activities at the Texas State University School of Music in San Marcos. The event was planned in coordination with event organizers Marshall Jennings and Jane Hallowell.

Martin, on piano, accompanied Jasmin Granados, senior soprano, and Gentry Wessman, junior mezzo- soprano, on vocal selections by Marques, Giacomelli, Schubert, Mitnick, Price, Rossini and Massenet. Kelsey Sexton, Graduate Student, Cellist, accompanied by Martin, performed pieces by Bach, Haydn and Breval. The music seemed to be enthusiastically received by the 41 attendees.

Jennings, a retired faculty member at Texas State, holds two salon concerts at his home each year. On a limited basis, the concerts are open to the public. Contact Mr. Jennings at marshallandmarge@ aol.com for more information.
