The Wimberley Parks and Recreation Department has announced the first ever Hill Country Migratory Birding Seminar, sponsored by the Wimberley Birding Society.
The free seminar will be held on May 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center. Attendees will hear from a variety of speakers, including Michael Heimbuch, Rufus Stephens, Lisa Ghram, and Dr. Rebekah Rylander; the keynote address will be given by Craig Hensley. The seminar will also feature two breakout sessions and ample time for networking and discussion.
Registration is required for all attendees. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.
“We are thrilled to offer this important seminar and provide a platform for experts to share their knowledge and experience with the community,” said Richard Shaver, director of Wimberley Parks and Recreation. “We hope that attendees will leave the seminar with a deeper understanding of the importance of bird conservation and ways in which they can make a difference.”
The Texas Hill Country is an important rest stop for many migrating bird species, including the Black-capped Vireo and endangered Golden- cheeked Warbler. The seminar will provide an opportunity for bird enthusiasts to learn from experts about protecting these birds and cultivating bird-friendly habitats.
