Representatives from Post Oak Preservation Solutions, along with city staff, will host a meeting at City Hall, 221 Stillwater, on Monday, April 24, at 5 p.m. to continue discussions on Historic Preservation in downtown Wimberley.

This will be the third and final public input session on proposed preservation and design guidelines for downtown Wimberley, prior to a presentation for consideration by City Council in the May-June time frame.

Topics will also include a brief overview of the proposed guidelines for the downtown district, a proposed ordinance that would regulate Historic Properties and Districts and the procedure for the designation of Historic Landmarks and Historic Districts.

“These measures will help Wimberley maintain its unique character,” Council Member Teresa Shell said. “This also may qualify property owners for financial incentives to preserve our historical buildings.”

Post Oak Preservation was selected by the city last year to complete a historic resources survey and report for the downtown core and adjacent areas of the city. The firm has extensive experience in historic preservation initiatives in cities throughout the state, including San Antonio and Georgetown.
