The city of Woodcreek is calling for volunteers on the morning of Saturday, April 22 for an Earth Day community spruce up. Several areas around town need some tender loving care, and “many hands make light the work.”
Volunteers will gather at the Triangle in Woodcreek, near the intersection of Woodcreek drive and Brookhollow Drive at 8:30 a.m. Participants will receive a quick breakfast snack and eco-education, then they will disperse in groups to clean up areas around the city.
The city’s Tree Board will have free saplings and information about tree and plant care available — as well as cookies — and local Master Naturalists will be in attendance throughout the morning with informational materials and to answer questions. The Parks and Recreation Board will coordinate a clean up of storm damage in Augusta Park, and citizens are asked to help clean up the area around the dam beneath Cypress Point.
Highlights of the morning will include the dedication of a water bottle filling station and dog bowl donated by AquaTexas at the Triangle, and their donation to help refurbish the flagpole area at Memorial Plaza, located at the Woodcreek entrance off of RR 12.
After a morning of work and camaraderie, volunteers will gather back at the Triangle, where City Manager Kevin Rule will be grilling hot dogs for everyone.
All ages are welcome, and there are tasks for all abilities. Even if residents are unable to get out to a work area, all are encouraged to spruce up their own areas and send photos to woodcreek@ woodcreektx. gov.
