The deadline for applications for Wimberley Community Civic Club scholarships is quickly approaching with applications closing at the end of the month.
Completed applications are due Wednesday, March 29 and must be turned into school guidance counselors by 4 p.m. Homeschooled students may place their applications in a receiving box outside of the Katherine Anne Porter School entry doors, also by 4 p.m. Late or incomplete applications will be disqualified. Any questions about the application should be directed to school counselors.
Scholarship applications may be downloaded from the Wimberley Community Civic Club website (wimberleyccc.org under the Scholarships tab), the Wimberley High School scholarship link or the KAPS school website.
Each year, the Wimberley Community Civic Club offers financial aid to students who have a record of achievement who require financial assistance to pursue education beyond high school. In addition to traditional universities, applications will also be considered for a qualifying non-traditional institution, such as a trade school or culinary art institute.
Scholarships will be announced May 11. If a student is awarded a scholarship, the student is required to supply the Civic Club with proof of enrollment, such as a copy of a school ID or a class schedule, by August 15. If the applicant fails to comply, the scholarship is forfeited.
The Wimberley Community Civic Club is a 501(c)(3) organization that returns all profits to the community through donations to local non-profit organizations and scholarships. Begun in March 1979, the service organization was founded to “nurture a strong community spirit, to be ever aware of our community’s needs and services, and to welcome newcomers.”
