Rotary Club announces contest winners

The Rotary Club of Wimberley has announced the winner and runner up of its third Rotary Loves Readers contest of the school year at Danforth Junior High.

The Rotary Club of Wimberley has announced the winner and runner up of its third Rotary Loves Readers contest of the school year at Danforth Junior High.

The challenge asked students to read a book about an individual who must overcome adversity, then present an interview of the individual that reveals how they prevailed. The runner up was eighth grader Sidera Skiles, and the winner was fellow eighth grader Lilly Mylius.

Skiles’ interview was with Ladaislav Dragwyla from the book “And I Darken.” For second place, she received $50. Mylius interviewed Billy Dunne from the book “Daisy Jones and the Six.” As the contest winner, she received $100.

Rotary Loves Readers is a comprehensive set of programs designed and dedicated to improving quality of life and a love of learning. This includes book giveaways, reading incentives, teacher appreciation programs, leadership awards, scholarships, free library books and a host of events throughout the year.
