A Knight to remember

Local Knights of Columbus group hosts Casino Night fundraiser

The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus hosted a sold-out Mardi Gras Casino Night this past weekend, fundraising for the second annual Wimberley Valley Emergency Responder Appreciation Luncheon in March.

The event was held at St. Mary Catholic Church’s Pastoral Activities Center on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. The evening featured casino games, a Cajun themed menu, an open bar and prizes.

The main attraction of the evening was its Las Vegas-style equipment, which was staffed by professional gaming personnel. Available games included eight slot machines, 13 blackjack tables, two craps tables, roulette, high card flush, three-card poker and Texas Hold ‘Em. Prizes were awarded to participants for casino winnings.

True to the theme, the menu reflected New Orleans-style cooking from local celebrity chefs, as well as other servings from Knights. Dishes included Cajun chicken and sausage gumbo, pork tenderloin with NOLA sauce, muffulettas and salad. Dessert was King Cake and homemade cookies.

The event also featured bucket raffles, a 50/50 raffle and a live auction.
