Vacation rental celebrates anniversary, namesake

Miss Lilian’s House hosted a ribbon cutting last week, co-sponsored by the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Miss Lilian’s House is named after Lilian Keith Groesbeek, who moved to Wimberley after retiring from teaching. She purchased property on Mill Race Lane and soon began building her new home, which was completed in 1983. She was 98 years old when she had to move to a nursing facility.

The house was converted to a vacation rental and was open for business Valentine’s weekend of 2020. Most of the furnishings were purchased new or are treasures found locally — mixed in with a few of Miss Lilian’s own furniture. Decorative items come from local businesses. Photos on the walls feature local flora and her favorite cat, MacArthur. She loved to garden and sit out in the carport visiting with MacArthur.

The house is a comfortable two-bedroom, two-bathroom house with an open dining, kitchen and living area. It is equipped with ramps entering the house, a large shower and handicap bars in the master bathroom, making it easily accessible for people with disabilities. The house has a six-person capacity.

It is located on Mill Race Lane, which is a mere five-minute walk across the Cypress Creek Bridge to the Wimberley Square. There, you will find over 70 businesses for shopping, dining and live entertainment.

Hill Country Premier Lodging handles all bookings and can be reached at (512) 847-7460 or at hill-
