SUZANNE AND CHARLES MCCORD OF OLD GLORY RANCH ARE HOSTING AN AFTERNOON OF MUSIC, CAMARADERIE, FOOD, AND AUCTION TO SUPPORT THE REBUILDING OF KING FEED.

Old Glory hosts fundraiser for King Feed
Old Glory Ranch is hosting a fundraiser for King Feed on February 18 from 2 to 8 p.m. The live music event will offer food and the opportunity for supporters to bid on auction items as well as make a donation at the door and throughout the event.
Musicians Jay Sims, David Byboth, Marvin and Laura Bottera, Jesse and Joshua Stratton, Bob Slaughter with Julie Ragins and Jeff Stocki, and the Hill Country Honeys will be donating their talent. Clarise Kehoe is volunteering as the music coordinator.
Suzanne and Charles McCord, owners of Old Glory Ranch, are donating the food for the event as well as the venue. Along with the Mc-Cords, Paul Hartmann of The Fence Guy and The Gate Shop business is providing brisket and sausage and Wade Sliva, Old Glory Ranch’s manager, is cooking gumbo. Rachel Emry of Blanco Brew is serving as the food coordinator. “When we brought our family here in the ‘70s, we had a little farm on FM1492. King Feed was one of the only retail stores in the village and they were an essential business, a key part of our existence, and were always anxious to help to get whatever it was that we needed,” said Suzanne McCord when asked why she is hosting the fundraiser. “We were heartbroken to hear about the fire. We know how hard they’ve worked to build a business and we feel a real kinship with them.” The auction includes donated items from the Cedar Chest, Mission Day Spa, the Yurtopian, Inn at Sunset Mill Ranch, artist Casey Craig, Brigitte Burke and Shawn Rockefeller and others.
Other donors include A to Z Copy and Print, HowDMedia, The Waters Point, Leinneweber Services, KWVH 94.3, Hill Country Wine Shoppe, Twice the Ice in Wimberley, Sonora Bank, Lowe’s in Johnson City, Wimberley Shave Ice, Trailer Flash Photo Booth, and Arco Murray. Members of the 12 Kings Car Club will provide volunteers to staff the event.
No ticket is required for the event; donations will be taken at the door. An opportunity to make a donation online is also available at barnabasconnects.org for the King Feed Relief Fund.
Children are welcome but must be with an adult at all times because of the nature of a working ranch populated by animals. Parents and guardians will be asked to sign a waiver at the door.
