Cultural district expands, new mural unveiled

On March 3, the City of Wimberley and Wimberley-Arts.org invites the public to celebrate the expansion of the city’s Cultural District by the Texas Commission on the Arts with a party at 3:30 p.m. at the Oak Park Welcome Center, 107 Oak Drive, a block south of the Wimberley square.

In addition to celebrating the increase of the Cultural District boundaries, the city is honoring its designation as the “International Dark Sky Place of 2023” by the International Dark Sky Association.

“This is an outstanding achievement for our small community, and an important recognition of the results that can be achieved when committed citizens and officials pull together with an inspiring shared vision,” said Mayor Gina Fulkerson.

As part of the festivities, the city will unveil the winning design for a mural on the silo at Oak Park, which is another WimberleyArts.org Public Arts project. The design, by Wade Woehrmann, reflects the city’s creative and environmental heritage, as well as its Dark Sky designation.

Music will be provided by the Hill Country Honeys, beer by Roughhouse Brewing, wine from Ranch Brands, and nibbles by the Leaning Pear.
